Ayah had a celebrity ex-boyfriend, Jon had an ex-girlfriend from Canada. After the break-ups with their respective significant others, they patiently waited for that “special someone” who will stay forever. Separately, they came to love the song “Where Are you” which perfectly fits their plight that time. Then, that one day came.
Ayah & Jon are both church officers and their meeting was accidental when Jon had to attend the officers prayer in Ayah’s church locale (equivalent to Catholic parish). After the prayer was held, people went out to the church compound preparing to go home to their respective houses and it’s then and there that Jon & Ayahs eyes met. They took a good stare at each other but didn’t talk yet. Since then, Jon inquired with fellow church officers about Ayah. He got her number, sent her text messages and there he got the chance to befriend her. He asked Ayah out for a coffee date but she hesitated, saying that Jon has to come to her house first and meet her parents. So he did. Jon first met Ayahs dad, and later on her mom. Jon & Ayah became friends, special friends. Ayah was graduating from college back then and Jon was overwhelmed to be invited to witness her graduation at the CCP in April 2006.
Jon helped Ayah find her first job and she was employed as a Marketing Assistant in one of the country’s class “A” Spas. Lucky enough for both of them, they worked in the same workplace for over a year. On Saturdays they hold their dates.
As early as May 2006, Jon & Ayah had plan their wedding originally for December 28, 2007 but relatives had their own plan for them. They suggested instead that the wedding be held on a very amusing date— 08.08.08 or August 08, 2008. Like any other couples getting ready to tie the knot, it hasn’t been a walk in the park going through all the preparations. there were different preferences and say for that most anticipated event but of course, all’s well that ends well.
August 08, 2007— a stormy day didn’t hinder Jon to propose his love to Ayah. So bringing the engagement ring he prepared for that day, even if soaked with rain water, he brought Ayah to their churchs Central Temple, offered a prayer then afterwards gave the ring to her.
On to year 2008… an unexpected TV appearance gave way to a very unique “love proposal”. Ayah & Jon were interviewed at The Sweet Life sometime in February and they made the audience melt in sweetness upon witnessing Jon proposing his love to Ayah on national TV! Thanks for the very nice opportunity that the program The Sweet Life gave to the couple, their love story was made even more colorful.
08.08.08 - The most-awaited day for Jon & Ayah. They were greeted by well-wishers as a “sneak preview” of the said occasion was broadcast over GMA 7’s primetime news programs, 24 Oras & Saksi, a day before the triple 8 date (August 7, 2008). The following day— which is the big event day 08.08.08, the same feature interview regarding their wedding was aired over Unang Balita, a news segment of the morning show Unang Hirit. Those “exposures” made the couples much-awaited event more anticipated by their family, relatives & friends and the rest is history.
Living as husband & wife for six months now, Jon & Ayah can just attest to a stronger love relationship but this time taking a step higher as they live their lives together independently, and in anticipation of their firstborn child.
